An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
The old adage above is true; an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. In pursuing wellness care and preventative medicine we emphasize the importance of an annual exam for most patients and more often for some. This check-up provides an opportunity for clients to express concerns and our doctors and technicians to identify potential issues such as obesity, periodontal disease, ear infections and more. At this visit we recommend needed parasite checks (stool samples and heartworm/lyme disease tests), blood tests, or vaccines as indicated by the pet’s life-style, age or history.
Vaccine selection and timing are based not only on the needs of each pet, but on available research. Our staff follows current work on vaccines, companies that produce them, and recommendations of immunologists to supplement our experience for establishing which vaccines to administer and the appropriate intervals to administer them.
